In line with its commitment to empowering young women through education and skill development, the Bedi Foundation proudly launched the Silai Skill Centre at GGGSS, DBN, effective from 1st September 2023.

This initiative marks an important step towards creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for students, especially those who may not pursue higher academic education but possess the potential to excel through skill-based training.

The Foundation extends its heartfelt appreciation to the school leadership, especially Mrs. Rupinderjit Dhaliwal (Principal), for her valuable support in providing space within the school premises to establish the centre. Her vision emphasized the need to not only guide students towards higher education but also equip them with practical skills for self-reliance.

The Silai Skill Center has been set up with modern sewing and embroidery machines, made possible through the generous contribution of Mrs Harmesh Khanna. Her support has played a crucial role in bringing this initiative to life, enabling the Foundation to provide hands-on training infrastructure to the students.

To ensure quality learning, an experienced instructor, Mrs. Prakash Kaur, has been appointed to train the students in apparel designing, stitching, and embroidery skills. Under her guidance, students are gaining practical knowledge that can help them generate income and support their families in the future.

This initiative reflects the larger vision of the Bedi Foundation—to create opportunities that go beyond traditional education and foster confidence, independence, and financial empowerment among young girls.
