Dera Baba Nanak in short DBN is of great religious importance to the Sikhs. Baba Dharam Chand, the grandson of Guru Nanak, founded the habitation and named it Dera Baba Nanak. In this town the central lane ie Bazar Udey Chand divides the area habitated by the descendants of Meher Chand, the elder son of Baba Dharam Chand and Manak Chand, the younger son of Baba Dharam Chand. Meherchandias are to the east and Manakchandias are to the west of this Bazaar lane. The notable Bazar lanes running horizontally through the town are Bazar Jhorian, Bazar Udey Chand and Bazar Tara Chand. The Gallis run mostly vertically through the town and the area division is thru Mohallas. Both carry the names of families or those related to their work. The notable Mohallas are Mohalla Mulkh Raj, Mohalla Borh Wala, Mohalla Fateh Singh, Mohalla Kahan Chand and a few more.
